Language Notes
1- Wear      put on       dress
* wear + مفعـول :  يرتدى  ( شكل الملابس كاملا على الشخص )  :
She wore her best dress at the party.              We wear light clothes in summer.
* put on + مفعـول : يقوم بإرتداء ( فى الحال )      :  Put on your shoes. We are late for school.
* Dress  :    يرتدى ( بدون مفعول )   :  I got up early, dressed and went to school.
* dress + مفعـول  : يلبس شخص لا يستطيع اللبس بنفسه  :  She dressed her baby.
* be dressed in = wear :  يرتدى  :  She is dressed in a white jacket
= She wears a white jacket
2- Except (for) = apart from
= فاعل + was the only one who didn't + مصـدر= ما عدا -  باستثناء
All friends attended the party except ( for ) Ahmed.
All friends attended the party apart from Ahmed.               
Ahmed was the only one who didn't attend the party.
* expect to +  مصدر  :   يتوقـع     He expects to find a good job soon.
* expect (that) + Sub+ will + inf.  :  يتوقـع   I expect that she will pass the test.
3- Suggest + (v+ ing)   :   يقترحj   He suggested sending him some flowers.
* Suggest (that) + Sub+ should + inf.  :  He suggested that she should come early.
4- ashamed of         shy
* ashamed of  :  يشعر بالخجل أو الخزى من ( شئ مخزى فعله )  : 
You must be a shamed of what you have done.
* Shy  :  خجول بطبعه            She is always shy in front of strangers.

* at the age of   :   فـى عمـر        She died at the age of 85.

Grammar              (Used to + inf اعتاد أن  )
- فعــل ( يعبر عن عادة كانت تحدث فى الماضى ولم تعد تحدث الآن )
I used to play football when I was young. 
He used to be a driver, but now he isn’t.
- Didn't use to + inf                                     في النفى نستخـدم :ـ          
I didn't use to play football when I was young.
He didn't use to be fat but now he is.
- Did +فاعل   + use to + inf. ..                                               وفي الإستفهام  نستخـدم :ـ
Did she use to cry a lot when she was a baby?
- am / is / are used to (v + ing)  معتاد على              صفــة ( تعبر عن عادة تحدث فى الحاضر )     
I'm used to playing football .          = I usually play football.
- Am – Is-  Are + فاعل  + used to + (v + ing) ..?                وفي الإستفهام  نستخـدم :ـ
Is he used to playing football ?
- تستخدم  no longer   بدلا مـن   used to  ويأتي بعدها الفعل في المضارع البسيط المثبت وعندما نبدأ بـ  (  No longer ) يأتى بعدها صيغة سؤال  :
He used to live here. (no longer)  (No longer)
= He no longer lives here.  = No longer does he live here.
- تستخدم  any more    ـany longer   بدلا من  used to مع نفى الفعل في المضارع البسيط و تأتى في نهاية الجملة:
He used to live here. (any more)   = He doesn’t live here any more.
- ( be ) used to + inf            ( be ) used for + ( v +ing )
- Used to + inf                                                                                  يستخـدم  (  يأتى بعدها الفعل فى المصدر )
Wood is used to make furniture.
- ( be ) used for + (v + ing)                                                 ( V+ing ) يستخـدم  (  يأتى بعدها الفعل مضافا إليه
Wood is used for making furniture.
Clause of purpose or result
*………..+ so + adj / adv + that + جملة نتيجة
The watch is so expensive that I can’t buy.
*It is / was…….such + a / an + adj + noun (موصوف) + that + جملة نتيجة
It is such an expensive watch that I can’t buy.
*………+  too    + adj / adv +  to   +  Inf
The watch is too expensive ( for me) to buy.
* الموصوف … Adj +    enough + to  + Inf---à   نستخدم هذا التركيب عندما تكون الجملة النتيجة مثبتة 
-The student is very clever. He can answer all questions.
-The student is clever enough to answer all questions.
أما أذا كانت جملة النتيجة منفية نستخدم التركيب الاتى :---                                                  
* الموصوف + ننفى فعل الجملة السبب + عكس الصفة المعطاة +  enough + to + Inf    
The watch isn’t cheap enough ( for me) to buy.
*So + Adj / Adv + فعل مساعد مناسب + فاعل الجملة السبب + ….. that + جملة نتيجة
So clever is the student that he can answer all questions.
* Such + a / an + adj + noun (موصوف) + فعل مساعد مناسب + فاعل الجملة السبب + that + جملة نتيجة
-Such a clever student is he that he can answer all questions.

Loisel’s wife Mathilde was very beautiful. However she was not happy at all with her life because Loisel did not earn enough money to efford all the things which she wanted. She wanted to go to the ball so much that her husband used his saves  to buy her a new dress, and she lent a beautiful necklace from her rich friend. Mathilde had a wonderful evening and everyone admiring her because of how beautiful she was and because of her beautiful dress and jewellery. However somehow she managed to lose the necklace, and she was too ashaming  to tell her friend that she had lost it. If only Mathilde had been honest with her friend, she would have found out that the necklace was not as value  as she thought, and she
